“And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.”
Colossians 2:4-7
The Apostle Paul gives us warning and exhortation. (Col. 2:4-7) Beware of those that speak smooth as butter. Speaking of words of flattery, deceit, and vanity. Their end is to thee, error and destruction. (Rom. 16:17-18; II Cor. 11:13-15; Eph. 4:14; 5:6)
It was a joy and refreshing of spirit to the Apostle Paul to know and sense the service of Christ in the saints of Colosse. What structure and form, (I Cor. 14:40) what staunchness of faith in Christ (I Peter 5:9). Thus, it would be for fellow brethren, even today, in the house of God, hearing and being refreshed by other saints triumphing in Christ throughout worlds, in faith and order. Amen.
As we have accepted (received) Christ Jesus, (John 1:12) our Redeemer, Lord, and Saviour, we ought tolive (walk) in Him. It is right and becoming of us in Christ to manifest good graces and poise. The world shows forth only that of their heritage of ruin, vanity, and sin of destruction. We ought to show forth the kindness, love, faith, and grace of Christ our Saviour. (“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” II Tim. 2:24-25)
Not only are we to be fixed and established (rooted), yet also constructed (built) up in Christ Jesus. The more we give ourselves attendance and effort to grow in Christ: by love, by the Word, by deed, by exhortation, by humility, by perseverance, etc., we can grow closer to our Saviour, be a channel of blessing, and a shining light. (I Peter 2:2) The right and proper way to be taught for the saint is to be fixed and stable (stablished) in the faith of Christ. Away from the things of God leads only to a shaky and weak faith. Not fit for the Lord’s theater of spiritual warfare and loss of rewards. (“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Eph. 6:10-18) (II Tim. 2:1-6)
Then once in Christ: rooted, built up, and stablished in the faith, we ought to flow (abounding) with an outpouring of sincere gratitude (thanksgiving), glory, and praise, to our wonderful Saviour, and the manifestation to others to receive Him. (“To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” Ps. 30:12) “Christ Our Perfection” Amen.
