These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. – Acts 17:11

July 25 – “GOD’S PURPOSE”

“And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.”

 Genesis 39:5

Interesting to note: Joseph was sold into slavery into the house of Potiphar the Egyptian. What happens: God made Joseph overseer of all Potiphar’s house. Next, we note: Joseph in (Gen. 39:22 “And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.”) Joseph was put into prison wrongfully. What happens? God makes Joseph head of it.

What does the Lord teach us here? All that training Joseph obtained while being the overseer was God’s training for him to oversee the whole country, for famine was to hit the land. (“And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.” Gen. 41:41) Joseph realized this for he declares in (Gen. 45:7 “And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.”)

God tells us the things that are happening in our lives in doing His will are for our profit and edification. If hard times come, if sickness weakens us, if put into a position of leadership, if loved ones pass on, if punished for no wrongdoing, if praise is heaped upon thee, etc. It is according to God’s plan and purpose in our calling. The training we require to fulfill His will in our lives to His praise and glory. All for our admonishment, our profit, our future, our good, that we would be conformed to the image of Christ Jesus His Son. (“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Rom. 8:28-29)
