“For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”
II Corinthaians 2:17
In this devotional we will study one of the many avenues by which some churches and church leaders have taught false doctrine and ruined the hearts and minds of others. We must earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints. (“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Rom. 16:17-18) (“Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.” Phil. 3:2)
This false doctrine they teach is known as “Hyper-Dispensationalism.” This teaching takes the doctrine of “Dispensationalism” over the cliff (extremism) and results into false and heretical teachings. They are as follows:
- Old Testament saints were saved by their works: Wrong– Salvation is by God’s marvelous grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ alone. Always has been and will always be. (“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.” I Peter 1:18-21)
When they brought the sacrifices to the brazen altar that God required, during Old Testament times, was a type looking forward to the supreme sacrifice of our Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ on Calvary. Amen! (Recommend study Heb. 9 & 10) (“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” Heb. 10:4 “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Heb. 10:9-10)
Abraham built altars and offered sacrifices. Was this his salvation? No. Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (“And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Gen. 15:6) (“For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Rom. 4:2-3)
Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. (“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” Gen. 6:8) (“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9) By faith Noah moved with fear: (Heb. 11:7).
Notice all the saints mentioned in (Heb. 11) “The Hall of Faith.” Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gedeon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David, Samuel, and the prophets. They all through faith in the Almighty conquered, was delivered, wrought righteousness, etc.
Therefore, this teaching that O.T. saints were saved by their works is foolishness and of the devil to lead men astray. (“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” Rom. 3:28) (“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Rom. 5:1) Glory! Amen!
- Now, another false narrative of this Hyper-Dispensationalism doctrine is: Christ not only suffered and died on the cross for us; but also, went to the fires of hell. Wicked and so evil. (“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” I Cor. 15:3-4) (“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” John 19:30)
It is a misinterpretation of (Ps. 16:10 “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”) Hell was separated by a great gulf into two parts: Paradise (Abraham’s Bosom) and a place of Fire. (“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” Luke 16:22-23) (“And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:42-43) Paradise was a place in the earth where the O.T. Saints went when they passed on. Christ after giving up the Holy Ghost went to Paradise and led those saints up before God. (“Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” Eph. 4:8) Paradise is now before the throne of God with all those saints.Believers today, we will be with the Lord in glory upon our passing. (“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:” Phil. 1:23)
- Another false and deceptive teaching of this doctrine is: The Apostle Paul’s writings or epistles are the only books of the Bible we ought to obey or be concerned with. Not true. (“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” II Tim. 3:16-17) The key is: Rightly dividing the Word of truth. (I Tim. 2:15) True born again, blood washed, and prayerful saints will have the same mind and interpretations of the Word of God. (“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” I John 2:20)
- The “Great Commission” given by the Lord in (Matt. 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”) This commission and the four Gospels do not apply today. Wrong! Read the answer to the previous erroneous point.
- Next failing point of this doctrine is: The church began after the book of Acts. The church began in (Acts 2:1-4 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”) This was fulfillment of the Lord’s Word in Acts 1:5 “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”)(Joel 2:28)
Notice also in (Lev. 23:15-17) at the feast of the wave-offering: the wave-sheaf (a type of the resurrection of Christ, with no leaven, meaning no sin or evil) was offered first then 50 days after (the precise time from the resurrection of Christ to the Day of Pentecost, seven sabbaths) the wave-loaves (type of the church, baked with leaven, meaning sin still existed) were offered.
If one has the internet, there is much on this false teaching of Hyper-Dispensationalism. For instance, another point: some Hyper-Dispensationalists teach Christ could have sinned. Wicked! He could not! Else He would not be the mighty God (Is. 9:6; Titus 1:2) if this heresy was true. Sinful and Evil! Also, on the internet those who hold to these teachings can be found. They go hand in hand with those who advocate Divorce & Remarriage (April 9). (“Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.” Phil. 3:2) (Many of these teachings in this book taught to me by a dear friend, Pastor Fred R. Fowler, and may be found by other men of God online which concur.)
