These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. – Acts 17:11

June 3 – “DEISM”

“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

 Romans 1:21

A detestable and damnable teaching that floats around in minds and hearts of men today is known as: “Deism”. Just one among many heresies that are damning souls to hell for they will not believe the love of the truth. How that Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Amen!

Deism was in the past much more popular than it is today. However, many principles of the Unitarian teachings have Deism in them. Deism holds:

  • A creator, sometimes referred to as God created the world, then left it. God held no further interest in His creation. God’s word declares: (“The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.” Ps. 58:10-11) (See Dan. 5:21) God did not create the world then leave it, my friend. True wisdom begins with the fear of the LORD. (“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Prov. 9:10) (See Rom. 1:18-32) (“…God saw…” Gen. 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31 Gen. 6:2, 5 Ex. 3:4, Rev. 20:12)
  • Deism does not accept or believe the Bible is God’s inerrant and inspired Word. The Bible is just a guidebook for us. Balderdash. (“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” II Tim. 3:16-17) How foolish it is for man to turn to the vanity of their own hearts and become vain in their imaginations. (“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jer. 17:9) (“Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:”) Ps. 106:24 (See Duet. 9:23)
  • Some in Deism teach Christ never existed (wicked).Others state Christ Jesus did exist but deny the miracles and resurrection. Others say Jesus was a good moral and upright example and teacher. My friend, the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible was, is, and shall forever be Almighty God. (“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” I Tim. 3:16) (“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Is. 9:6) Period! There is a warning to those denying the faith and resurrection. (“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.” I Tim. 1:19-20) (See II Tim. 2:17-18) (Also John 20:30-31) Repent, Look to the Lamb of God. He alone is able to save you.
  • Deism holds that you gain knowledge and wisdom from all that is around you: from humankind, from nature, from the precepts of the universe, etc. God says: (“…but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”) From our above main verse. (“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” II Tim. 3:1-7) (Note Rom. 1:22-23)

Fear God the Almighty. (“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matt. 10:28) This is the beginning of wisdom. (See Ps. 111:10)
